Sheep Shearing Festival

Sheep Shearing Festival presents a sheep shearing competition, fair with produce of the local manufacturers, homemade food & drinks from participant rural communities, as well as the games, live music and dances, and other entertainment. During the Sheep Shearing Festival, the communities of Syunik Marz are represented in separate pavilions to show their own products such as traditional dishes and handmade souvenirs with symbols of sheep. Besides this interesting contest and award ceremony, the festival also hosts other various events - national songs and dances, sports competitions, tasting of national and regional dishes as well as master classes of spinning and painting thread, carpet weaving, etc. The main purpose of the event is to promote local products, traditions and culture of Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions as well as to develop rural tourism, which will contribute to the economic development of the regions.
